Brady’s Restaurant - Boothbay, ME
Dog and Locals Approved
If you’ve ever found yourself in Boothbay Harbor wondering where the line between "warm local watering hole" and "dog-friendly haven" blurs into pure coastal perfection, look no further than Brady's Restaurant at 25 Union Street. It’s the community hub you never knew you needed!
First things first: let's address the true executive management here.
While human hands might pour the craft beers and hand-bread the fried green beans, Maye holds the real power. Maye—the official bar mascot—can be seen trotting around the establishment from time to time, conducting routine floor inspections, ensuring proper greeting protocols, and casually checking if anyone’s stray fries need emergency disposal on the deck.
Maye took over the reins from Brady (RIP to the absolute legend!), the original, deeply beloved mascot who set the standard for top-tier canine hospitality in Boothbay. Maye is filling those big paws honorably, making sure the vibe stays as laid-back and pup-approved as ever. Now, let’s get to it...
The Space & The Building
Brady's sits right at the head of the harbor, bringing fresh life to a historic spot on Union Street. Owner Jen Miller created a neighborhood gathering hub that feels like stepping into a friend’s living room—if your friend happened to have:
1. A huge outdoor deck that gives you front-row views of the harbor breeze, cold drink in hand, with games like cornhole and an outdoor bar.
2. A cozy local bar inside where year-round regulars, fishermen, and visitors all share space at the counter.
It’s one of those rare Boothbay gems that keeps its doors open year-round, cementing its status as the heartbeat of the local community when off-season sets in.
Standout Eats You Need on Your Radar
The menu nails the balance between Downeast classics and proper pub comfort:
The Award-Winning Crab Cake: A solid quarter-pound of seared Jonah Rock crab with house-made remoulade—legend has it it's so good they practically got banned from local contests so others could have a turn.
Bang Bang Shrimp: Deep-fried Gulf shrimp tossed in a sweet-and-spicy house sauce.
The Classics done right: Everything from proper Baked Haddock topped with Ritz crackers to loaded burgers and seasonal lobster rolls.
Nachos: We found the nachos to be interesting... Not bad, but definitely not your typical. Expect liquid cheese and a large serving!
Fun Facts
Sunday Breakfast: They open early on Sundays (7:30 AM!) to serve up a mean harbor breakfast.
Dog Friendly Everything: The outdoor deck isn’t just dog-tolerant—it’s full-on dog-celebratory. Bring your pup, grab a seat, and wait for Maye to make her rounds!
The Verdict: 10/10. Go for the harbor views and the crab cakes, stay for the cozy local chatter, and have “Just One More.”
Pro tip: Parking in front of the building is limited, but don’t fret! Across the street, they have additional parking on the left side of the large parking lot!
