The Story Behind the Salt
Founded by Ian and Emily Emmott, Two Daughters began as a humble passion project in 2019. What started as making Christmas gifts for friends quickly turned into a mission to master the ancient art of salt making.
Ian, a veteran who previously worked for the VA, transitioned to full-time salt harvesting to spend more time with their children (the "Two Daughters" the brand is named after!). Together, the couple has turned their craft into a beautiful family legacy.

Small-Batch Harvesting: Ian manually hauls water from the pristine sections of Penobscot Bay, avoiding busy harbors to ensure the highest quality.
The Wood-Fired Method: Inspired by traditional Japanese techniques, they boil the seawater over a wood fire to create a concentrated brine.
Sun-Cured Perfection: The final crystals are finished through solar evaporation, resulting in a delicate, crunchy flake salt that’s as beautiful as it is delicious.
Garden-Fresh Flavors: Emily leads the way on their flavored infusions, using herbs straight from their own garden and premium ingredients like Vietnamese peppercorns.
