Unbeatable Views and Honest Local Vibes
If you are looking for a reliable spot in Camden that keeps its doors open year-round, The Waterfront Restaurant is a staple you shouldn't overlook. It operates as a unique crossroads where locals and visitors collide; you’ll often find the locals gathered at the energetic bar, while tourists flock to the outdoor deck during the summer months to soak in the scenery.
And speaking of scenery, this spot arguably boasts one of the best views in town. Sitting on the deck overlooking Camden Harbor with Mount Battie rising in the background creates the quintessential Maine dining backdrop.
Service with Expertise
The highlight of our experience was undoubtedly the service at the bar. Our bartender, Josh, was happy, helpful, and refreshing in his honesty. Instead of upselling everything, he gave us real advice about the menu—what to get and what to skip. You can tell he has been bartending for many years; his expertise shines through, and he makes a truly great cocktail.
The Highlights:
Crab Artichoke Fondue: This was my personal favorite appetizer. It is served with toasted bread and is the perfect comfort starter.
Haddock Chowder: A very good rendition of a New England classic.
Lobster Newburg: We caught this on the specials menu, and it was delicious.
Sandwiches: The Ham and Swiss grilled sandwich was very good, and the Roast Beef Dip is consistently above average compared to other dips in the area. For a vegetarian option, the Portobello Ciabatta is a rare find—a fresh "garden sandwich" bursting with taste.
Burgers: The Colorado Burger is always a solid choice. If you are around on a Thursday, don't miss the $14 Burger special (available for both lunch and dinner).
Brusselsprout Salad: A few of our friends are in love with this one!
Things to Consider:
Crab Avocado Sandwich: This is known as a crowd favorite, but keep an eye on the cost. Because it is Market Price, it can sometimes get quite expensive.
Buffalo Wings: This was the only real miss for us. They were greasy, flimsy, and just lacked that crispiness we were looking for.
The Verdict
Go to The Waterfront for the incredible harbor views and the expert service from Josh at the bar. Stick to the consistent staples like the burgers, the roast beef dip, or the fondue, and you’ll have a great time at this year-round Camden gem.
